SafeGuideEd is built for every Texas teacher. That includes teachers who navigate the web with screen readers, keyboards, magnification, or assistive input. We design and build to WCAG 2.1 Level AA as the floor, with one theme (High Contrast) that targets Level AAA contrast ratios.
What we ship
- WCAG 2.1 AA target across the marketing site, the dashboard, and the Presenter desktop application.
- Ten themes including a High Contrast theme that meets WCAG AAA (7:1 contrast). Switch from the settings panel.
- OpenDyslexic font opt-in for any teacher who finds it easier to read. Toggle in profile settings.
- Keyboard navigation on every interactive surface. Visible focus rings on every focusable element.
- Skip-to-content link on every page, visible on focus.
- Reduced motion — every animation respects
prefers-reduced-motion. Hover transitions, fade-ins, and the Presenter HUD all step down when the system flag is set. - Screen-reader hygiene — semantic HTML, ARIA labels on icon-only controls, and proper heading order on every page.
- Captions on the /watch tour when the video ships. Live transcripts on request.
What we still owe
We are honest about the gaps. As of May 17, 2026: a few legacy editor panels were built before the current color system and have not yet been audited against AA contrast ratios; the Presenter HUD has limited screen-reader coverage in the prototype build; the /watch tour video does not yet have a synchronized caption track. These items are on the remediation backlog.
How to report an issue
If you hit an accessibility barrier in any SafeGuideEd surface, please tell us. Email accessibility@safeguided.com with the page URL, the browser and assistive tech you were using, and what you expected. We respond within two business days and publish material fixes in the changelog.
Standards we measure against
- WCAG 2.1, Level AA (and Level AAA for the High Contrast theme).
- Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act (US federal accessibility standard).
- ADA Title II as it applies to public school district procurement of educational technology.
